International Energy Agency (IEA)
Find information on energy research, data compilations, and publications: The IEA is an intergovernmental organisation which acts as energy policy advisor to 28 member countries in their effort to ensure reliable, affordable and clean energy for their citizens. Current work focuses on climate change policies, market reform, energy technology collaboration and outreach to the rest of the world. With a staff of around 220, mainly energy experts and statisticians from its 28 member countries, the IEA conducts a broad programme of energy research, data compilation, publications and public dissemination of the latest energy policy analysis and recommendations on good practices. A data access system to UN databases: The United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) launched a new internet based data service for the global user community. It brings UN statistical databases within easy reach of users through a single entry point. Users can now search and download a variety of statistical resources of the UN system.

International Clean Energy Analysis (ICEA)
Clean energy analysis tools, databases and other resources for developing countries: The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) partnered to develop the ICEA, which promotes increased access to clean energy analysis tools, databases, methods and other technical resources which can be applied in developing countries. This up-to-date wiki-based dynamic platform provides toolkits on training initiatives, resource assessments, technology cost and performance, project analysis, energy system and scenario analysis,impact assessments,policy and program design,financing initiatives,global organizations and networks, and low emission planning.
World Bank - Renewable Energy Toolkit
A set of tools to improve renewable energy projects: This page includes a number of tools to improve the design and implementation of renewable energy projects, incorporate best practices and lessons learned, and is operationally oriented to address practical implementation needs at each stage in the project cycle. The toolkit aims to help identify and design feasible renewable energy projects, determine appropriate promotional policies, identify sustainable business models, finance mechanisms and regulatory frameworks - and utilize the best available project tools, including technical standards and generic terms of reference.
Search engine for renewable energy and energy efficiency: This search engine, which provides an excellent source of country specific energy news, is structured in three main areas:
- Web: provides a search engine for clean energy information from selected relevant sources; a box on news and events and an energy blog
- Map: allows searching for, e.g., energy news, events or actors in specific African countries by sector, e.g., hydropower;
- Actors: provides a database of around 1700 actors.
A wiki platform on renewable energy and development aid: Energypedia is a wiki platform where you can write, create, revise and disseminate articles providing information and your experience about technologies and approaches related to renewable energy and development aid. Furthermore you can jointly organize discussion processes and groups. Energypedia will optimize the exchange of knowledge and the joint work amongst energy experts around the world.

REN21 - Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century
A global policy network providing a forum for international leadership on renewable energy: The international agency promoting of all forms or renewable energy: REN21 provides an excellent source of information including
- flagship publications including the Renewables Global Status Report and the Sustainable Energy Investment Report;
- information on renewable energy policies and the international policy process;
- a renewables interactive map providing a status overview, e.g., on hydropower;
- news and a calendar of policy events; and
- many additional relevant documents, e.g., on energy prospects
International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)
The international agency promoting all forms or renewable energy: IRENA was officially established in Bonn in January 2009. To Date 148 states and the European Union signed the Statute of the Agency. Mandated by these governments worldwide, IRENA will promote the widespread and increased adoption and sustainable use of all forms or renewable energy. Acting as the global voice for renewable energies, IRENA will facilitate access to all relevant renewable energy information, including technical data. Find out more about IRENA on their website.
