The State of the Biofuels Market: Regulatory, Trade and Development Perspectives

In 2006 UNCTAD published its first report on Biofuels, anticipating a quick rise of international trade in this type of renewable energy which has so many linkages to the livelihoods of people in developing countries. In 2014, UNCTAD publishes an updated version of the study, covering the intense market developments which happened in the period since 2006.The updated report examines the current state of production and usage of biofuels in key countries and regions, international trade, consumption trends, as well as the evolving regulatory and political debates which continue to take place in this important sector.
